I have the same tv card, but by my pc its not restarting, if I want to stream. I can't look with this card only the standart(one) fequenze on the localhost. I have also a second tv card from the house hauppauge it an extern and connected with USB, with this card it's no problem to look on the lokalhost. I can change the channels, but I haven't get the card to stream in the network.

Probably VLC has problems with hauppauge tv-cards. I'm not sure if that is correct. I haven't any other card than from hauppauge. Also this two cards are analog and not digital. If I could view the tv on the lokalhost, it sould be possible to stream that data to an other computer and there he could view the data again. I can't program, so I can only think what is not working. :S
No risk, no fun

I have the same problem with that tv card - pc reboots without warning. After much reading, I gaveup and downgraded to 0.7.2 which works perfectly (not sure which version it stops working at because I jumped from 0.7.2 to current version recently). The current version streams everything else without crashing though for me (dvd, etc...).

I'm new to this streaming stuff but I (I think) have managed to get VLC to output a file via a URL. But I don't know how to pick it up at a client (being the TVersity media server). I set VLC up to go out via
protocol: mmsh:
url: localhost
port: 1234

The output, according to the messages screen, is going to mssh/asfh://localhost:1234

So my question, which url should the media server be looking for? - mmsh://localhost:1234, or mssh/asfh://localhost:1234

or should it simply be mms://localhost:1234 - a format like the one below which is aninternet video stream that the DSM-320 can stream:
mms://wmcontent43.bcst.yahoo.com/b02r01/005/yahooinc/7/17987379.wmv?StreamID=17987379&ht=30&pl_auth=6369e2e33d074a6ae98297cfb8030396&sg_id=50273&b=4csm33d1cu6od431e4a37&RegID=49169317097804260&ru=Windows-Media-Player"

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Grant
