HD (720) files and performance in VLC

Postby aleq » 09 Jun 2010 00:21

Hi

I have some high quality files, that lag in VLC but in Windows Media Player, they play smooth with no lag, and even sharper quality. The question is - how do I force VLC to behave the same; to use all of my laptops resources fully and optimally, and prevent any lag?

My laptop has 1GB RAM and a graphic card with 256MB. But the fact itself that Windows Media Player can handle those clips with no lags proves, that there should be a way to make it work in VLC as well.. but how? Please assist me on this matter. I have no idea which options to play with.. or should I perhaps download some codecs? I have installed K-Lite pack

Wow that was muuch better, thanks! Both regarding lag and picture quality :) it still lags just a liiitle, but it's nothing big.
