Help capturing soundcard output for streaming

Hi

Im trying to complete a project to turn my phone into an apple airport sort of thing. Streaming my PC audio to the phone so it can be placed next to my hi-fi and plugged in to play the sound through its speakers.

Hit a stumbling block. I have successfully streamed individual files with VLC using RTP to "Real Player Mobile" running on the phone. Problem is I want to stream ALL of the soundcards output to the phone, not just the files i select in VLC. I want people to be able to swap and change tracks in media monkey / WMP etc. without having to select files to play in VLC, problem is I can't see my sound card as a capture device.

Stop me if im wrong but after searching it appears that many people can capture the output of their soundcard, NOT JUST the inputs such as microphone or web cam. Im running a sony vaio laptop with Intel Audio, when i go to streaming and select "caputre device" the only options available the microphone input and the webcam. I guess i could loop the headphone out to the mic-in, but I dont really want to do that unless i have to. Would like to be able to present sound to the laptop speakers as well if possible. (multi-room audio etc).

Is this a hardware compatibility issue? or is there another reason. If this is not fixable, are there other options.

Many thanks

Simon

Because nobody programmed it.
