Stream live video delay WINTV PVR 350/250

Hi everybody,

Theres´s a 3 seconds delay when streaming live video from vlc using hauppauge PVR 250 / 350.

With VLS (Videolan Server) there´s no delay. (strange isn´t it?)

udp-caching=30-----> that´s for V4l, not for PVR........

I´m using:

1. Redhat 9
kernel 2.4.20
ivtv
PVR 250
VLC 0.7.2

2. Fedora Core 2
kernel 2.6.9
precompile ivtv 0.1.10
PVR 250
VLC 0.7.2

3. Fedora Core 2
kernel 2.6.9
precompile ivtv 0.1.10
PVR 350
VLC 0.8.1

Why the difference between VLS and VLC????

I´m using the same libraries (libdvbpsi, libdvdcss,.......), and there´s alway the same delay.

In VLC 0.8.1 there´s something about pvr-caching, does it work????

Thanks a lot folks, you´re great!!!!!!!!!!!!

VLC use a lot of caching.
So you can try to reduce --pvr-caching and --sout-udp-caching if you stream by udp.

Hi xtophe,

pvr-caching doesn´t work.... and i don´t know why. is there any option to compile it?

sout-udp-caching in server doesn´t affected the delay. This is for V4L cards, not for PVR cards.

sout-udp-caching is for transmit and udp-caching for the client.

Is there any way to reduce it?

Using VLS there´s no delay..... but it doesn´t transcode
