Difference between DIV3+MP3 and AutoGK DIVX

Hi all,

My wife has just bought a new TV (Technika 19" LCD with USB). It plays the avi (DIVX) files that I have backed up DVDs to using AutoGK, but not any of the presets I've tried so far trying to convert WMV (downloaded and DRM removed from BBC iPlayer) using VLC 1.0.4. I'm using Ubuntu Karmic. Is there a difference between the output from AutoGK and VLC? If so how could I make them the same. The TV also complains about video resolution support, I've tried resizing to 720x576 which is its own output. The TV records to .ts MPEG2 stream from freeview but won't even try to play a similar file that I've made.

Any suggestions?
