Hello all!
VLC has great potential and offers several posibilities to create your own VoD sites (to be used locally of course ) So I started reading through the manuals, started testing some of the functions out and all seemed to be working fine and dandy. Though I have not been able to starte the HTTP server on WinXP Pro. I've even created a vlc.bat file that contains the command vlc -I http (as per instructions in a prior topic). Any suggestions. Are there any settings that have to be set in the GUI before the HTTP starts up properly?
That's the first prob. Secondly, I'd like to make a VoD site where the comps in my home network can select movies from a local webpage. I would like to use the Mozilla plugin to accomplish this. What other good alternatives to this would there be?
So I've tried the test script that put out on the HowTo description but that didn't want to work. I tried connecting the page to a multicast stream and connecting directly to a file. Albeit all in vain.
Some things that could be good to know would be:
1. If there are any sites that allow you to test the Mozilla plugin to make sure that it's working?
2. Does Apache need to be configured to support video streaming? If yes, how?
3. In the HTML code, how do I make a call to a video that is placed on my server, say at the location, "localhost/vids/"?
I'm running a machine with WinXP Pro, Apache 2, VLC 0.8.1, Firefox 1.0.
All helpful hint will be appreciated.
Cheers,
Herk
