End of stream

Hello,
I transcode media files using vlc streaming to a file on pc. Is it possible to know if the streaming has ended by querying (possibly by Request) ?
I give the transcode commands by http. After the streaming ends I need to copy the resulting file to another location. This is why I need to know when the streaming (transcoding) ends without having to look in the pc from time to time.
I will be grateful for any advice.
