will VLC work with

I was wondering if I can use the DecklLink studio card

http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/decklink/
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/produc ... techspecs/

the folks at black magic design say there are linux drivers.

So I was wondering if someone might have any actual experience with this and or
thinks it ...might , or certainly will not.

my real goal is to encode SDI Video at standard definition and stream it ( via dss ) as mp4.
but I might also wish to capture HD ( sdi ) . ...maybe even edit with Cinelerra

I might also ask - has anyone any experiences with SDI ( with embedded audio ) encoding and can suggest a linux card.

Thanks

I have not gotten this working as yet.
The good people at decklink are no help ....seems like they would be - but are not. ( shame )

The new DeckLink Studio works perfectly with Linux.
You can also download the SDK for free and use the sample BIN to capture the RAW input as well

that is good news -- i wonder can you capture in 16bit audio with the linux solution.

reason: on Mac I can only capture 24 bit audio ( i cannot change it - that i can see ...)
and I then cannot transcode via ffmpeg - when I wish to change the sample rate.

example
let's say i have a dv25
24 bit 48kHz audio that I wish to make into mp4 w aac 44.1kHz
I cannot change the sample when the audio is 24 bit

if I have 16 bit audio - I can reSample that .
I have to leave the 24 bit audio 24 bit .

congrats on your success !
so - what Linux distro are you using?
what is that sdk in : C ?
