Hello all,to

I am having problems trying to stream my webcam on my laptop to another laptop. I have tried to narrow the problem down and in doing so my configuration is:

Host Laptop:
- Window's XP with all software updates, firewall is off
- Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000
- VLC 0.9.8a
- IP: XXX.XXX.X.YYY

Target Laptop
- Windows XP with all software updates, firewall is off
- VLC 0.9.8a
- IP: XXX.XXX.X.ZZZ

There is no routers or firewalls, laptops are literally connected only via ethernet cable (so as to have the most basic configuration possible until problem is solved)

Steps that I have taken in setting the host vlc are:
In Media-->Streaming-->Capture Device
Capture mode: DirectShow
Video device name: Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000
Audio device name: Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000
After which I hit the Stream button, which took me to the Stream Output page
I have the Play locally button checked and the HTTP button checked with the address XXX.XXX.X.ZZZ (Target address)
Profile: MPEG4/audio ACC

Steps that I have taken in setting the target vlc are:
In Media-->Open Network
HTTP: XXX.XXX.X.YYY (Host address)

Can someone give me a an idea of what I am doing wrong? I am able to see the stream on my host laptop, but my target laptop says that there is nothing to play

Hi,

in vlc settings for streaming("Host Laptop") you have to point "Host Laptop" IP address with specific port and the same address&port - in vlc settings for playback on "Target Laptop".
