Unable to Stream Video From Client to Server through Webcam

Postby Murulidhara » 25 Nov 2008 14:38

Hi All,
I am trying to configure VLC with one server and two clients.
The users/clients are able to chat/conference by text mode, but when i tried to view the video of the clients video is not streaming from client side to server and to another client.

I would like to know how to configure VLC for video conference for one server and multiple clients.
Could you please help me with this regard.

For this question/post, I found out cause of problem and solution.
1. As VLVC uses UDP protocol, once client video reaches server through NAT enabled modem (IP Forwarded to Private IP) ,when server streams back packets it contains router address no information regarding client address, so packets reach router then drop out.
2. To solve this problem we need to configure "Port forwarding in router for series of ports which are used by VLVC"
3. Instead of Using UDP/RTP if we use HTTP/ TCP/IP with vlvc it works well and good, but it reduces speed.
4. The solution (2), but its not good since you can't do port forwarding in all the client side where NAT mode is configured.

If you any one is having /knowing alternative solution for this please post a reply.
