RTMP - streaming to FMS

I was given to understand that RTMP output is now possible but I have been struggling with an initial experiment to stream to a Flash Media Server (basically I am trying to replace Flash Media Live Encoder in our setup for a Linux based encoder).

Have I misunderstood the situation? If not could someone suggest to me the likely syntax to stream to FMS?

RTMP output doesn't work yet.
Ahhhhh thanks, that explains it then. It IS however listed in the patch notes for changes between 0.8.6i and 0.9.0 (RTMP output, http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc/NEWS) hence my expectant experimentation :(

Is there any news when the RTMP output would work?

I'd love to hear an update on that too, I'm looking forward to rtmp implementation since years now ;)
Wasn't there a SoC Project to get this done? :/

It would be great to replace FME with VLC. As I know Adobe has published RTMP specs so it doensn't require some reverse engineering now.
I dreaming about a day when VLC wil support hardware encding with ATI Stream/CUDA and RTMP ouput :)
