Why "End of support for VLC 0.8.6 series"?
But VLC 0.9.X for WIN32 can't transcode at all for the time present!

Because I have been asking for volunteers willing to support 0.8.6 for several months. I sure got a lot of complaints back, but no offers.

That's how open-source works (or does not work).
