IPv6 multicast - no sound alternatively no picture

We are using VLC to multicast to TV channels on our campus network. For IPv4 everything works great, while IPv6, it only works when played on the same physical network as the streaming box.

On all other networks we only get either sound or only picture, but with the same paramters.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, I tried searching the archives and google for it, but found nothing.

Thanks in advance for your help,

AndreasB

Have you increased TTL? You need that whenever you are going across segments using routers or higher-level switches.

Could you have a router config problem? Sure that the routers handle ipv6 properly? Do you have the proper multicast enabling commands for ipv6 transport on the router? (with Cisco I have to insert a couple of specific commands to get multicast going, would expect there to be additional things for IPV6, specific commands to forward the ipv6 addresses.)

TTL is at 60, while the testing computer is one hop away, should be no problem there.

IPv6 multicast works perfectly with all other applications, only VLC has this behaviour. (Note, I always get the data on the port I ask for, but not on the accompanying +2 port, while asking for port + 2 gives what was missing with just port.)

But thanks for the sudgestions.

Ahh, so a restated problem would be:
VLC not properly decoding the two streaming ports when using IPV6 -- only decoding one of them.

That would be correct, yes.

IPv4 streams work perfectly,
IPv6 from VLC, only one being decoded.
IPv4 through IPv6 multicast gateway, only one being decoded.
