How to output the debug message to a file?

Postby tiantao » 30 Jun 2004 04:39

Hi all,
I am new to Linux. I want to output the debug message on the screen to a file. I tried this:
vlc -vvv >a.txt But it doesn't work. When I check the a.txt file, it's empty. I tried this one: ls >a.txt , it works.
Can anyone tell me how I can put the vlc debug message to a file? Thank you:)

You can use the "debug logging"-interface to do that. Use the "--extraintf=logger" command to launch it. Furthermore, there can be set an option for the file format and the location of the file, but I do not know the console commands for them. You should be able to set that in the preferences dialog of your GUI, if you can access it.

Best regards.
