Anyone know of software that could enter ads into a live stream?
Also, anyone know of anything that will allow me to overlay text on a stream and change it up on the fly?

I think so. I want to keep the stream going, but inject a ad into the stream instead of the live content. Once the ad is finished, or collection of ads are done, it would go back to the live content.
VLC can do overlay text / logos / video / ...
Is there someplace specific that shows how this can be done?

You could just create a playlist with [livesource] and [ad1], [ad2], [ad3], [ad4], etc.... in it and just have livesource between every ad, then when you want to play an ad, you just change which item in the playlist you are on. Of course, you would have to set vlc to stream the playlist, not the individual items. I am pretty sure that this should work [unless you want to start buffering livesource when you play the ads, that could cause a problem].
What is your desired end result? are you using this to create a master control of sorts or??????
