mpeg2 encoding might be broken in current svn (due to a bug in ffmpeg svn which was fixed today)

I have the same issue. I can't succeed to transcode an H264 AAC file to an MP2V stream. I'm Using this really nice piece of software : VLC 0.85 under XP.
Here is my playlist. (I duplicate video to see the result )
The resulting image is made of big slobbery square.. My processor reaches 98 % of use especially when i'm displaying debug messages.

Code: Select all

#EXTM3U #EXTVLCOPT:sout=#transcode:std #EXTVLCOPT:sout-transcode-ab=256 #EXTVLCOPT:sout-transcode-acodec=mpga #EXTVLCOPT:sout-transcode-vb=2600 #EXTVLCOPT:sout-transcode-vcodec=mp2v #EXTVLCOPT:sout-transcode-vt=1000000 #EXTVLCOPT:sout-transcode-fps=25.0 #EXTVLCOPT:file-caching=1000 #EXTVLCOPT:subsdec-encoding=ISO-8859-1 #EXTVLCOPT:sout=#duplicate{dst=transcode:std,dst=display,select=video} #EXTVLCOPT:audio-desync=1000 #EXTVLCOPT:sub-track=1 #EXTVLCOPT:audio-track=1 D:/incoming/MyHolidayMovie.[x264.HP.He-Aac.5.1].mkv@:0
If someone has any Idea of what is wrong with this playlist please tell me.

thanx in advance

Hello, 1st post to the board :D

I'm having the same problem with VLC 0.8.5 under Mac OS X 10.4.7 Intel. I cannot stream mpeg2 from X.264 mp4 files, all I get is green blobs. Any ideas?

edit: typo

it's due to a bug in ffmpeg
it seems that it was recently fixed by ffmpeg team, but we are waiting for other bugfixes to update our ffmpeg version.

so 0.8.6 _MAY_ fix the problem when it will be released

Great news, Let's hope it will be corrected in the next VLC release
