motion detect effect log ?

Hi, I need to be able to monitor motion in a specific area of my video recording.
I manage to do this through cropping the recording in order to fit the area of interest while running the motion detection effect.
Now, is there a way to have VLC output in a log or so (f.ex. with timestamps) or even take screenshots (of) those scenes in which it detected motion so I can manually review them afterwards for editing ?
