TTL increase on network stream

Postby a_beltman » 10 Oct 2019 18:37

I recently had to add a firewall between my stream source and the switch connecting my user workstations, and now I can't get any users to pull a network stream multicasted to any of their devices. I know the default TTL on VLC is set to 1, and I know if I was hosting the stream I could edit the string and edit the TTL variable. How can my users change the TTL setting on their VLC applications for use multicast?

Edit: the only way users could open streams (before firewall) was media>open network stream> then type udp://@URL:port

TTL is set by the sender, not the receiver.
