Best settings on server side VLC streaming to compensate client slow internet speed

Postby lanibrand » 28 Jun 2017 15:22

Hello,
I am trying to stream live audio with VLC from my computer. I am capturing line in and using HTTP, MP3 (Basic/default) settings. I have the transcode and elementary streams options checked. It works smoothly on local network without breaks however, connecting over the internet results in long spells of silence 'buffering'. And when it resumes, it is far behind on sync to the source stream, sometimes as bad as 20 minutes probably because it is http. I prefer this should be in sync no matter the break so I switched to rstp but the client could not play the rstp so i switched it back to http. I assumed this is due to the poor internet until I noticed that whenever I play other audio internet streams, the buffering time is far far less or a total seemless play, and the rstp links plays well too. Something is definitely wrong with my settings.
Kindly assist me on how to sort this out...
