Output to Firewire Port (ADVC 110)

Postby monsieurcarotte » 19 Aug 2016 15:59

Hello

I have been browsing google and forums for a few days, and I can't find a solution to my problem. Most posts are from 2004 and solutionless

I have a Canopus ADVC 110 (Bi-Directional Analog / Digital Converter) that I use to send digital videos from my computer to a TV. It is plugged to my PCI card (firewire)
I managed to do so using an old software : Roxio VideoWave. By clicking on the button Start Output on the bottom it starts streaming on my TV (see picture)

This process is annoying, and I would love to be able to do this in VLC, just dragging a video file and streaming it to a specific output : the ADVC plugged in Firewire
But I can't make it work, I am doing Media -> Open Capture Device and I tried everything in there, it's not streaming to the TV
I went to the Capture Device tab, chose DirectShow, and AV/C Tape Recorder/Player

Am I missing something ? A script ? A button somewhere ?
Is it impossible to do that in VLC ?

(I cannot change the setup, I need this PCI Firewire + ADVC + TV)

Thank you very much for your time

Open Capture Device is for the other direction.

You might need to develop a new output plugin for this use case.
