The "Output/Written/Sent" statistics don't seem to update

Postby dhirwinjr » 21 Oct 2015 19:19

All,

I'm currently using VLC 2.1.5 as a sort of video transcoding server (CentOS Linux) where I mostly use it to re-stream incoming RTSP video (MPEG4 or H.264) to a different URL. This part works just fine. I'd like to add some stream monitoring as I've found that the output streams occasionally suddenly stops with no noticeable errors in my logs. I thought I could use the "Output/Written/Sent" statistics to trap situations where the output stream stops. However, I don't see those values increment at all in my server environment. When I stream video using the desktop VLC (same VLC 2.1.5 in Windows7) and then open Tools > Media Information > Statistics I don't see the streaming related statistics update (I only see the "Demuxed data size" and "Content bitrate" update). Are there any tricks or flags to enable the streaming output statistics, or is this just currently broken? BTW, I tried in desktop VLC 2.2.1 and it did the same thing.

Thanks,
Dave
