Codec for GoPro settings?

I'm using VLC to wirelessly live stream from my GoPro to my laptop and the video quality is pretty bad. My GoPro stream comes from http://10.5.5.9:8080/live/amba.m3u8 and it's connected up and playing but very choppy. Here's an example of the best video I've been able to get so far.

Any ideas on how to improve this? I think it has something to do with the Codec settings?
Go Pro signal going out is at the lowest setting of 720 and plays to the Go Pro app on my phone smooth and crystal clear.

Any help would be much appreciated.
