DLNA Stream to Phillips TV

Postby paulrt5 » 20 Dec 2014 15:45

Hey Guys,
Hope that you can understand me ;)

I've got a problem with DNLA streaming and the VLC Player.
Got an old linuxserver and want to use it as an video and film streaming server for my phillips tv at the next birthday party. My phillips supports DLNA streaming, if windows media player plays a video, i can go to this small symbol at the top right (with the green play symbol), choose my TV and it plays the video automatically...
How can I do this in vlc? First in windows (without cmd), then i want to try that with the old linux server (its headless -> shell vlc).
Is this possible with vlc or not or do you know a better way then vlc?

Thx

Try minidlna in linux. It's easier and focused only on DLNA. VLC might be an overkill.
