Stream from IP Camera

Postby mcginnisea » 23 Jan 2014 20:21

Hi,

I am very VERY new to this. I've done a lot of research over the last two weeks on this subject. Everything from trying to write a CGI script in Python to trying to stream through VLC. My problem is I'm a little too new at this so all the posts I find skip a few minor steps that I need to get this working.

I have a panasonic WV-SP306. This is an IP camera. Eventually, I want to stream the video and audio from this camera to a website. My first step, however,is just to have it stream to VLC. It is on an internal LAN. I've tried clicking on the "Open Network" tab and using the GUI to get this to run. I've tried all of these configurations:

Just a URL: 192.168.1.3
URL with UDP on no port and on port 554
URL with RTP on 192.168.1.3. on no port and on the h.264 video port the camera lists.

I'm sure I am missing something basic but I am running short on time and am at a complete loss. Please help.

How are you usually watching it?
