Sreaming to mobile devices

Postby ibn » 16 Nov 2013 16:01

Hello,

i'm streaming from my from my set-top box to my Dedicated Server(Debian) I have only 1024 kbps upload and because that i stream it via my PC(HTTP)

My Question is how can i re-stream from my Dedicated Server to Devices like iOS and Android systems. I have already VLC on my Server installed and able to re-stream HTTP for PC but with the HTTP Link it's not possible to stream it on the mobile devices.

How can i fix this problem?

Best regards

You could either use VLC together with its built in Streaming server to send a rtsp or http live stream to your clients, or, instead of VLC, install the Darwin Streaming Server and deliver a rtsp stream.
Or, remux the stream to flv and use JWPlayer or a similar flash player to serve it.
example see here:

rtsp is working on most devices, and, also works good with live Video, however there are sometimes problems with NAT traversal.
flash will only work with adobe flash enabled devices
HLS will work on android and ios

Return to “VLC stream-output (sout)”
