Streaming webcam on server & Synchronising with Movie onset

Hello, I'm looking to know wether VLC can realize my request or if you can direct me toward something else.

For my master thesis - my participants have to do an experiment from home : watch 2 small movies then answer an online questionnaire, while at the same time their webcam records their face. I will later on analyze their facial expression. Although this necessits two things:

1) Being able to Stream the video content of my participants webcam and save it on a server/or my computer.

2) Synchronise the exact time participants "play" the movie with the time on the webcam video.

--> for the first question:
I was advised a webcam recorder program - easy to use + records on a server + no installation necessary for participants. Although it's unrealistic to invest 1'000 dollars for 100 participants!
+ the solutions might be to Stream and save from VLC/VideoLan or Adobe Flash Media Server.
But how do you make it user-friendly and directly save it on a server for free ?

-->For the second:
In the forum I found this script that can capture the participants mouse activity, although i am unsure how it will indicate me the corresponding time on the webcam (when the participants left-click their mouse).

I look forward reading your advice.
