How can i streaming(Audio & Video( through LAN?

Hi all,
i want to use VLC. i am installed it...
But we can not connect Through LAN....
Anybody tell me the steps, how can i connect VLC through LAN (Audio & Video)?
pls tell me the steps....how can i connect through LAN?
