Stream to DLNA TV via Serviio

Hi,
I am trying to stream a .avi file from VLC on my PC using Serviio to my DLNA certified TV. I used the address of my PC as
http://192.168.0.5 (which I found using DOS ipconfig command). Full path:
http://192.168.0.5:8081/stream.ts
I copied the path to Serviio console online/stream
Serviio shows this as a valid correct URL
But on my TV, this stream does not show up
I did not use transcoding, SAP announcement etc
Can someone help?
Thanks

Hi,
please activate (FFmpeg based) 'transcoding' inside SERVIIO.
Using the TVs DLNA-screen you can scan your local directories
and select the desired multimedia-files.
Normally there is no need to 'pre-stream' local files to SERVIIO.
Good luck !

Hi,
Thanks for that. Reason for streaming to VLC on PC first is that I can (I hope) play a separate .srt file also. The end result would hopefully mean viewing the stream with subtitles on my Sony Bravia TV.
Yes I was able to share and see folders on my PC drive through my TV DLNA screen.
Now you mention "activating ffmpet transcoding". I am a bit of a novice here - any detail instructions would be appreciated as to what exactly I have to do.
Many thanks

Hi,
my TV is a 'W5500'
As far as I know there is no way to stream external subtitles to Sony Bravia TVs using Serviio.
http://www.serviio.org/index.php?option ... icle&id=33
You can set up VLC + 'Screen Capturer Recorder' to feed Serviio:
http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=stream_pc
But according to my experiences you will get no sufficient video quality.
Workarounds:
- create a new video file with the subtitles 'burned' in
- use the TV as an external PC monitor (my 'solution')
Best regards

Hi
Thank you again.
This will save me time as I thought it was possible.
Your solution is good except that my PC (desktop) is in one room and the TV in the other!
I do have a Samsung tablet (Tab2 10.1) and was hoping to play on this and use an hdmi cable etc. However Samsung, of all people, don't provide hdmi connectivity on their tablets. Had I known, I would have bought a lesser brand.
I will stick to watching on my PC monitor anyway.
Thanks again
Regards

Friendly admin. I saw the thread in the link:
viewtopic.php f = 5 & t = 5620? With the title: VLC DLNA player.
But I saw and reviewed the image, made and remade as he tells us: View -> Playlist -> Local Network ->. Universal Plug'n Play.
So when I open VLC, tab "View -> Playlist -> Local Network -> Universal Plug'n'Play, NO appears or folder icon, or a device such as posted by him as an example picture." Servvio (Joseph-3889073cb7). "
And if I click on "Universal Plug'n'Play" VLC crashes and gives the message above the Player window: "(Not responding)".
I use Windows 8 Ultimate Pro - i7 CPU - 8 GB RAM - Video Card 2 Gb
Please can you help me? Why not see VLC not recognizing Serviio as showing in the picture he posted?
I can not understand and configure VLC for this function.
Can you help me, please?
Thank you.
