Encoding always corrupted

Postby Jacek » 20 Jun 2012 00:02

Hi,

I use VLC on Windows. I hope this is the right forum.
When I try to use VLC as player everything works correct, decoding is ok. But when I try to use it to convert a file I always get proper (playable) output file with corrupted video content. Sample corrupted frame:

I used some old versions, now I use 2.0.1 and problem is the same. For different input containers, input codecs, output containers and output codecs (MPEG4, DIVX3) problem is the same. MPEG2 encoder works but I would like to use something better. Any idea what can be wrong ? Does VLC use encoders installed in the system (VFW?) or are they compiled inside ? Anyway I uninstalled old and installed newest ffdshow tryouts and XVID but it didn't help. When I use VirtualDub to encode, everything is correct but VirtualDub can not read mts files and I have lot of them :(.

BR,
Jacek

Hi
VLC uses its own encoders, not system.
No idea what's wrong unless you show the command you used with log.

Return to “VLC stream-output (sout)”
