video backgrounds

Hi guys im new here and thought one of you might be able to help


im building a karaoke player interface around vlc i have cdg +mp3 that opens fine in vlc but i need to insert a background video over the file as it plays can this be done in vlc the cdg file contains the text with a black background just wondering if there are any plugins to do thisor if vlc will put a video background on natively
