How to: merge multiple files in one

Postby cspCoppola » 12 Dec 2006 22:00

Hi fellows,

I have a system that streams images from surveillance cameras to be watched form client machines all over the protected perimeter. These images are recorded in a separated machine for persistency. The guy that implemented the recording machine choose to split them in 5 minutes chunks, what causes the problem I'm facing now. I need to merge some files to produce a single video so I can present it to a client in order to identify the perpetrator of a felony. The streaming is in MPEG4 inside .asf files. I tryed to merge then using the VLC Wizard but they came out very poor. Can someone point me in the right direction here?
My configuration was:
Encapsulation Method: MPEG 1
Transcoding options: Video codec=mp2v, bitrate (kb/s)=1024, scale=1

This was the only one I could put to work. Probably my setting is what is causing the poor image result. If it is possible to use a playlist or something to batch the whole process I'd appreciate it a lot.

TIA,

Coppola.
