bttv driver 0.7.x and 0.9.x

Postby toxique » 24 Nov 2003 17:22

hello
i tried to use vlc for streaming with linux-2.6.0-testX kernels, but there is new bttv driver,
when vlc starts it shows nothing but black screen - and bttv 0.7.x works fine!
what's the problem?

Probably a v4l1/v4l2 issue...

My understanding is that the 2.5/2.6 kernels implement v4l2, which is NOT backward compatible with v4l1.

Changes would have to be made to the video for linux code in vlc (and probably vls) in order to support these kernels...
