sout: which parameters for preserving aspect ratio

Postby jockyw2001 » 21 Jul 2006 10:22

I use VLC to stream to Sony PSP. VLC transcodes any content to the PSP screen resolution of 480x272. The displayed picture AR is therefore always 16:9. So that means that 4:3 content is transcoded to 16:9. That is not correct and I would like VLC to automatically transcode to 360x272 when it detects 4:3 content. Now how do I accomplish that?

What transcode parameters should the PSP send to VLC?
At the moment it sends: vcodec=h264, vb=600, fps=25, width=480, height=272

Is it perhaps sufficient to drop the width parameter?
