## Workaround Streaming <> Hauppauge PVR-Cards ##

Postby notorius » 24 Jun 2006 03:13

Hi there,

I'm watching the vlc forums from time to time, and so i saw lots of peoples had some trouble with Hauppauge PVR-Cards (especially the no sound issue).

I have found a workaround witch is suitable atleast for me so i dont wanna hold it back:

This is how it works.

You need following tools to get it to work.

1. GBRecord ( a command line recorder for the PVR-Cards )
2. WinTVCap-Gui ( the Gui )
3. Vlc

Im reffering to the Site http://www.wintvcap-gui.de.vu/ where are the additional links / documentation for the setup.

After u setted up the whole stuff it works like this:

You start the Program/Channel you wanna record. After you started you can hit the 'Play with VLC' to see the live stream.

When u watching the movie and everything seems fine, you reached the hardest step already.

In VLC u go to: ->File->Streaming Assistant->Steam over Network->Take Existing Object->"take-the-actual-file-your-streaming.mpg'->use HTTP Stream->ASF->no TTL

Now the VLC should run without any video, the second Step is done

Now go to your Client , pick run Networkstrem -> http -> http://serversip:8080 and ur done.

This has been tested with the Hauppauge PVR 150, since the GBRecord supports almost all PVR-Cards from Hauppuge i assume, it works with all the other ones also.

If you have any questions, write it down here, im checking this forum from time to time and i might help you.

Now have fun with streaming ( WITH SOUND !!!!oneoneeleveneleven )

cheers

** Update **

The Author ds10 was so kind, and updated his WinTVCAp-Gui-Tool with a 'VLC - CLI' - Option where u can set the complete vlc syntax for streaming (YAY !!).

So just place the complete Syntax into the Option and your ready to Stream with just ONE CLICK.

I wish to say a BIG Thanks to ds10 here.

cheers
