Pinnacle PCTV 50i/110i Stereo Streaming - anyone?

Postby johho » 17 May 2006 09:45

Hello, I wanted to make a separate thread to check if anyone got Live TV streaming working with this card. Here is my problematic experience from last night:

--------------

My new card is a Pinnacle PCTV 110i (the driver from the CD says 110i, but the box says 50i).

Good:
* I can play directly from the TV card to the screen in VLC (DirectShow) fine!
* I can stream files or DVD using transocoding over the internet to my client!

Bad:
* I can not stream from the Capture card to the client

Mostly I get no audio and no video, I have managed to get audio from the capture card streamed, but not consistently after trying other settings then switching back. It may have to do with running the MediaCenter software in between??? Sometimes the VLC client detects there is an incoming stream and starts a black window with the correct resolution but no pictures. So I never actually got any moving pictures streaming from the TV-Card

I have tried 0.85 and 0.84a.

Did anyone get this card to work with transcoding and streaming?

What could I try next?

Cheers

I am using the 110i for multicast with vlc, the key is open another program, like nsvcap.exe (from nsvtools) first and preview. Then close the other program, and open vlc, but choose device properties and tunner properties in direct show tab, advanced options.

good luck ...

Thanks for the response! I have made it work with windows media encoder (not my first choice) but it requires that the Media Center (Pinnacle TV-software) is running at the same time, not so good but it works.

What I would like to do is to have 1 icon to click to enable the streaming (I am connecting from remote, so its a pain to start different programs etc.). Then have an easy way to change the channel.

With your solution (nsvtools and vlc) do you think it can be done?

I wonder why this DirectShow device does not start through DirectShow on its own...
