All,
This is my first posting, so please be patient...
I am using the latest version (v0.8.4a) of VLC for WinXP (SP2). The sequence is as follows;
I created an MP4 file from a DVD, using VLC;
File->Open Disc..., Disc type set to DVD, Stream output to file, encapsulation method MP4, transcoding mp4v and mp4a at any bitrate, selecting all elementary streams.
The resulting .mp4 file seems to be correct. This file will play locally using VLC, and also using the VOD server in VLM.
However, when I attempt to multicast the file using UDP (or RTP), to IP address 227.6.5.4:1234 (or any other address tried), using TS encapsulation with no transcoding, the server crashes after some time. This occurs with any mp4v broadcast stream.
If the video stream is originally encoded (when lifted from DVD) using H264, the server does not crash.
Any ideas? I cannot find any reference to a similar problem...
