Can VLC extract/display/play mpeg2 video with metadata?

Hello,
I have a mpeg2 movie with metadata embedded inside. I am able to play that movie but unable to display the metadata embedded along with that movie. Similarly, when I tried to broadcast the movie over the network (using VLC) all I saw was blank(Black)screen, but when I check the transcoding option then I saw some movie but the VLC, which recieves the video didn't play the movie smoothly. I am wondering if VLC is able to display the metadata on top of the movie (play movie locally and streaming)?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I have the same problem, with a file .mpeg with mnetadata embedded. I can see the metadata info as a text on screen??
The metadata that I handle is compliant with SMPTE metadata dictionary. There are other Player that read and treath this file (with metadata embedded)??
