Does VLC have to transcode WMA before it can stream?

Postby bbqbailey » 01 Nov 2019 01:43

I'm new to this. I was playing flac files that I had added to the 'file' stream window, and that played OK. I added some more files but these were wma files, and it quite playing. I restarted, and just added the wma files, then it says 'converting', and has stayed there a long time.

Does VLC not play wma without converting? If so, what types should I convert all of my wma files to so I don't have to do this in the future?

Thanks!
