VLC 3.0.1 No Audio when Casting to Chromecast (when it has to convert in realtime)

Postby rodp » 09 Apr 2018 02:09

Hi All,

Please could I have some guidance.

I have a windows 7 PC, VLC 3.0.1 Vetinari. I'd like to play some .ts videos from my PVR (or my HDD) via my Chromecast. VLC pops up a message 'Casting this Video requires conversion'. I press ok to accept and conversion starts (i assume) and after a short time, the video starts playing via Chromecast but there is no audio.

I have tried other files that don't need converting (MP4) and these play with audio fine.

The console info from VLC is below. Details of the files I'm having problems with are:

Stream 0: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv), resolution 544 x 576, 25fps
Stream 1: MPEG Audio Layer 1/2 (mpga), Stereo, 48Khz, 128 kb/s

I have tried messing about with the preferences, in particular the sout, transcode settings but nothing seems to help. My PC is a dell E6540 i7 so there is no problem with CPU power.

Please could someone provide some help. I can certainly share a short recording to see if someone else has the problem.

Thanks in advance

Rodp

Use verbose 2 mode for logs. Also it looks like a bug we fixed in 3.0.2
