Postby olb2000 » 08 Feb 2018 21:05

Hi,
I am trying to play a dvd from my laptop and stream it to my Apple TV
Both are Linked via ethernet
Laptop is using Windows 10 with VLC on it and Apple TV has the VLC app
1) is it possible to do what i am trying ?
2) if yes what are the parameters for VLC on laptop and/or on Apple TV?
Thanks for your help !

The easiest is to make an iso of the DVD, share it with SMB sharing and playback this on the AppleTV directly.

I have DVDs that I copied as a folder to my Mac (I used Fairmount back in the day). I gave them extension .dvdmedia so that they look like a single file (it's actually a "bundle") in the Finder.
These play just fine in VLC on the Mac but on Apple TV the dvdmedia bundle looks like a regular folder and I couldn't get any of the files inside the folder to play.

I don't have the DVDs anymore so I can't make an ISO out of them. Is it possible to play .dvdmedia folders in VLC for Apple TV? If not, what other options are there?

Thanks!
