Live streaming audio using ALSA

Postby yileku » 03 Feb 2018 03:39

I want to stream live audio. I have Ubuntu 17.04, and ALSA installed. When I run VLC 2.2.6 I goto media - stream - capture device. It shows video device name and audio device name. I select hw:0,0 and leave the video device name blank, and video standard undefined. I then select stream and it shows 'v4l2://' as the Source. I click next and type in a udp multicast address and port. I turn off trancoding and click next. I get this error:
[00007f1d040043c8] core mux error: cannot add this stream
[00007f1cfc01f3b8] core decoder error: cannot create packetizer output (YUY2)

It looks like VLC is trying to stream video along with audio. I just want to stream live audio and nothing more. Any help is appreciated.
Y

You can't capture audio only from the old open dialog. Right click on the audio device list in the playlist, or use the CLI.
