VLC 3.0.0-rc8 Vetinari - on Windows 10 1709 -
Either sequence:
open file - playback->renderer - select chromecast-device
playback->renderer - select chromecast-device - open file
Video begins to stream - great picture - smooth - video freezes after 20 seconds (up to 5 minutes is the most it has displayed without hanging). Time track had been pacing the video playback but reverts to a low number (e.g. 0-7 seconds) after freezing. TV Screen shows a rotating circle presumably indicating buffering/waiting ???
Reset renderer to local - video resumes at just past the correct point on PC screen - reset renderer to chromecast - video continues at point where PC display was showing. Seems like video was "running" during the hang interval - just not showing.
Chromecast is ethernet wired. PC is WIFI. No issues chromecasting with Videostream or with Chrome browser. Trivial CPU usage and disk usage as per TaskManager during playback.
Same video hangs at different positions - not consistent.
Problem occurs with all types of video files I tried. Lower resolution video (e.g. 720) less susceptible than higher resolution (e.g. 1080).
Thanks for VLC. Great product.
