RC (remote control) interface missing functions

Postby devnull69 » 25 Jul 2017 08:56

Hi there,

I recently started using the command line of the vlc player in order to stream different content locally via HTTP on a Windows machine. Everything works fine

I then found out that there is an even more sophisticated modus operandi: The remote control interface (initialized with "vlc -I rc"). Unfortunately the documentation is ... close to zero. But I found some tutorials that were mostly more than 6 years old

They told me that it should be possible to change the logo overlay "on the fly" during streaming. The logo overlay itself is working flawlessly, but changing it would require one of those rc functions:
- logo-file xxxxxx
- @name logo-file xxxxxxxx

Both of them are not available for me when I type "help" in remote control mode.

I'm using VLC media player 2.2.6 umbrella

Anybody knows what's going on?

And the Videolan WIKI on https://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_HowTo/Add_a_logo/ says

Code: Select all

# If using VLC 0.9.0 or newer (see NEWS for details about the new syntax): @logo logo-file logo.png
which also doesn't work

Return to “VLC stream-output (sout)”
