Bad audio transcoding from AAC+ to MP3 Shoutcast

Postby omega1 » 10 Sep 2014 12:58

Hello,

I am tryign to transcode an live 48kbps AAC+ Shoutcast stream to an 128kbps MP3 Shoutcast server.

I have been able to do this by simply pressing 'Stream', entering my AAC+ stream and then going throug hall the settings and entering my Shoutcast server details under Icecast.

This works fine, but the output sounds awful, similar to a scratched record overlaying the audio in the background, it also sounds slightly garbled.

The settings for the MP3 output server are correct because I entered an MP3 stream as the source stream and the outputted audio is fine, so there is a problem when trying to use AAC+ as the source audio and output it as MP3 towards the destination server.

The AAC+ source stream also works fine.

Is there a setting I have missed somewhere that I need to be checking?

Yes, I am aware that upsampling the original lower quality stream to a higher bitrate will not get me better quality, etc...

Thank you in advance for any comments/suggestions.
