I just tried to stream the output of VLC to nodejs via stout.This question does not make sense.
As alternative I also tried to use VLC as source client for IceCast but find out that no metadata are forwarded to IceCast see:

Is there a way to get the current Playback position of VLC ? that way i could manage the Metadata manually according to the current playback position.
