vlc.exe file_1.avi file_1.avi --sout-keep --sout=#gather:transcode{venc=x264{profile=baseline},vcodec=h264,fps=25,acodec=mp4a}:standard{access=file,mux=mp4,dst="file_out.mp4"} --sout-all -vvv
So, for testing purpose, I try to append twice the same file. Using the code above, the resulting file has 2 time the same video.. the first one plays correct but the second one plays accelerated... :shock:

A remark: If I try to play the resulting file after VLC ended the transcode process but without closing VLC itself, I can not play the resulting file (see logs bellow)... To be able to play it, I have to first close VLC (transcode ended) and then open the resulting encoded file (it plays then in the way explained above)...

It seems something is not correct on the file...

Please could you confirm this behaviour or tell me how to do to append 2 files together correctly?...

Hello,

I see the thread is old but I just wanted to answer so that this can help others who come around this thread.

To play a playlist (or multiple files) in VLC, you need to use "gather" as the first option in your --sout chain, and you also need to put in --sout-keep in the command.

So, something like this would work:

/usr/bin/vlc -I dummy -vvv "/home/mycontent/" --loop --random \ --sout="#gather:http{mux=ts,dst=127.0.0.1:8080}" \ --sout-keep
Hope this helps someone! It took me some time to find this out.
