--avi-index=1 How to use on command line?

Hi,
I have two avi-files connected by the following:

"C:\program files (x86)\VideoLan\VLC\vlc.exe" ^ -I dummy -vvv "20030419_DV.avi" "20030420_DV.avi" ^ --sout "#gather:std{access=file,mux=avi,dst=20030419c_DV.avi}" --sout-keep ^ vlc://quit

The output file size is correct, VLC gives me a fantastic picture, but the index is broken, I can not seek.

The wiki gives me the recommendation for

Code: Select all

--avi-index=1

But can any me give an example, wherein I have to put this?
My experiments have resulted in no better outfile.

--avi-index is to rebuild the index of the input file, not the output.

Yes, then I use the corrupt "output-avi" with --avi-index as input and copy to output?
Sorry, if the output avi muxer is corrupt (as described in the wiki), then is the result the same. There is no way to get good avi.

You probably need to transcode too.

I want to use "DVdate" after the conjunction of the two avi files to an avi file, because DVdate works only with avi.
"DVdate" exports automatically the date and time information inside the avi to a srt file.
If I first transcode to mp4 then cannot get the srt file from the whole.
Or I have to edit the srt file manually. This is not simple for me, but the target...
