I am streaming files with VLC by converting them to .wmv format and streaming them with mms. Streaming of some files works great and seem able to run indefinitely. Other files are having an issue and VLC crashes. I have had success with various streaming configurations this specific setup seems to have a problem with convervsion of some files to .wmv. I have one file that is a movie in mp4 format and this streams great, but when I stream another mp4 clip a failure quickly happens (within 30 seconds). In fact the local display of this sample problem video is not very good either.
I did see on a Forum post the suggestion to set Messaging to verbosity "level 2 - Debug" and have done that. I am attemptign to decipher this output, but at first glance it would see VLC is not quite sure of how to parameterize itself for this file (this problem has come up with a number of video files in mp4 format). So my guess is that if I were to more specifically parameterize VLC either from the GUI or command line I would have success. Since this problem does seems specific to conversion to .wmv however, I thought I would reach out to the Forum to see if there were some known issues relative to this specific use. Secondly, I am trying to "up" my ability to interpret the debug log, but I have included that as well in this post for additional data and in case someone can see in this output the problem.
