How to stream within same network?

Postby Marnix36 » 21 Jun 2011 17:53

Hello,

I am trying to execute a networkstream through VLC.

On the first computer I want to send a stream and on the other computer in the same network I want to receive this stream.
However, it does not work. I have read all streaming manuals on this website and also on the Wikipage but it still does not work.

On the computer which I want to send the stream, I do the same:
- Media --> Streaming --> Select file I want to stream
- At destinations on HTTP and video profile on WMV1, bitrate on 192kbs and scale on 0,25. Audio profile on MP3. TTL (Time-to-Live) on 10
The stream is well displayed at this computer.

The problem is now that that I cannot see this stream on the other computer in the same network.
On this receiving computer I do the following:
- Media --> Open Networkstream --> rtp://@:BROADCAST IP ADRESS
- Than on play but I cannot see any streaming.

The computers are in the same network and can share files etc.
Does someone know what I am doing wrong and how to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance,

Greetings Marnix

On your "Send" computer - server
If .asf then use default profiles WMV+WMA (asf) Or DIV3+MP3 (asf) profiles... Not wmv1 + mp3 ( whatever that is ?!)

On receiving computer - client.. If Server is sending http then ...Open Network stream with http://IP:port of your server
Not rtp:/...etc
Should not need ttl at 10 on a lan, default 1 should be OK
