H264 stream to SDI

Postby hokaro » 17 Mar 2010 19:12

Hello

I am streaming H264 signal to a video server over IP, and I need to deliver SDI output from this video server. So, I need to decode H264 to SDI, I guess... I have searched a lot but I can't seem to find any solution...how can this be done?
Is there any software decoder which can do this decently? or should I have a hardware decoder?

any help is appreciated

regards
Ed

not sure what to reply to your question, but we will encode our raw video in studio, stream it as H264 via Internet to our video server, and then need to decode this H264 to SDI and output this SDI signal to the satellite broadcaster on HotBird...

I'm interesting this topic also. I have same question: I know vlc support Dshow for capture SDI (if insert SDI capture card) but how can I output it over SDI?

I guess you will need a decoder playout software... I don't think VLC can decode mpeg-2 or H264 for SDI out, or maybe I am wrong?

It can decode and encode. But I don't think it can output through SDI.

I have tested some decklink card on mac where the decklink sdi output acts like a second monitor. If I open up VLC in fullscreen on the second monitor it outputs that to SDI out on the card. But it would of course be better to write directly to the card itself, but this works quite OK.

how about Windows's system?
and the "second monitor" picture is same as SDI input, right? can it become different? that's mean "input from A stream & sout and network receive & output to B stream" different stream works in one card, it that OK?
